iPreLog is an automated way to allow your user agencies to submit evidence and make requests for forensic analysis. iPreLog allows your agencies to submit cases electronically from their own computers. These electronic submissions are paired up with the physical evidence when it arrives at your laboratory. iPreLog reduces the bottleneck at evidence intake and reduces the amount of time required for laboratory staff to log-in cases, print out evidence receipts, and produce evidence and case bar codes.
With iPreLog, your agencies can easily provide the laboratory with case notes, special requests, individuals’ information (e.g. suspects and victims) and crime scene and evidence collection information. When the evidence arrives, your evidence custodians need only to check to ensure the electronic submission matches the physical evidence.
The iPreLog browser application is provided at no cost to your submitting agencies or officers. Before bringing the evidence to the lab, the agency representatives enter the essential case information: Evidence, Requests, Individuals and Offenses. When the agency submits a case, iPreLog creates an XML file that is forwarded to the lab as an e-mail attachment. By simply scanning a bar code, property and evidence custodians at the lab quickly import this data into the LIMS-plus® system.
iPreLog can significantly reduce the amount of time your staff spends logging in case information. The amount of time will vary depending how strictly you enforce that your submitting agencies are required to prelog a case before they arrive at the laboratory. The advantage of iPreLog for your agencies is that they can be exact in their evidence descriptions, requests and notes to your analysts. In turn your analysts will have more information on the case, evidence and requests from the submitting agencies.
