Follow-Up: How computer networking and terminal-server technology helped the Mississippi Crime Lab recover from Hurricane Katrina (September-October 2006, Evidence Technology Magazine)
After being completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, the Mississippi Crime Lab’s Gulf Coast facility in Biloxi was able to reopen only 6 months later. Additionally, the lab became ASCLD – compliant 2 months after that. Lab Director Mike Allen credits that in large part to their decision in early 1999 to implement JusticeTrax® LIMS-plus®.

Preparing to migrate from an in-house LIMS system to a COTS LIMS system in 2002, the County of Sacramento District Attorney’s Laboratory of Forensic Services conducted a methodical review of their internal processes first before developing their RFP. Completion of this critical step ensured them a successful implementation, and has resulted in positive feedback from their customers and internal users.
